Deacons

The Deacons are the caring arm of the church.  Though all of us are called to “love one another,” the Deacons are those twelve elected members who make it their mission to show the warmth of Christ to our members.  Elected in 3-year classes they make several kinds of “deacon touches” throughout the year:

1.   Sending birthday greetings.

2..  Mailing “thinking of you” packages to college students twice/year

3.   Making hospital & home visits when needed

4.   Bringing meals to sick & home-bound members when necessary

5.   Providing bereavement dinners for funerals

6.   Celebrating our 85+ year olds with the “Wise & Sage” party

7.   Bringing fruit baskets and flowers to homebound members twice/yr

8.   Celebrating the arrival of new babies

9.   Providing transportation for members to visit their doctor, etc. as needed

10. Raising money to help those who are out of work or struggling in the congregation

11. Coordinating the “Undershepherd ministry” of prayer in which all members of the

      congregation are prayed for regularly
