I. Purpose
The purpose of this program is to engage youth in a meaningful relationship with Christ. It is also
designed to create an environment where youth will be participating in wholesome, uplifting
fellowship and gain lasting friendships with other youth and adults who are believers in Christ.
II. Components of the Program
A. Team Building—5:30-5:45 p.m. We will begin each night by doing a variety of activities
that promote team building skills.
B. Dinner—5:45-6 p.m. This will be a chance for youth to come fellowship over a meal.
C. Worship Skills—6-6:10 p.m. We will explore an array of worship styles and be actively engaged
in during worship several times through the course of the year. Some of the areas that will be
highlighted are drama, visual arts, and music.
D. Bible Study—6:10-6:40 p.m. Each person will be part of a small group where youth will be
comparing their friendships with others to their friendship with Jesus. The curriculum,
“Friendship First” by Group, includes multi-media, small group activities and study materials. The 6th and 7th graders will be using this program most weeks. The 8th graders will be using this program on the weeks they are not covering confirmation material. (8th graders will be meeting with their mentors one week a month, and they will also be using their Bible study time another week each month on confirmation studies.)
E. Games and Outings—6:40-7:10 p.m. This will take place to build unity and a strong relationship among the entire group. Several weeks each semester there will be games offered that work on bonding the youth together. There are also a few outings or field trips included that are designed to enhance the friendships made through a variety of venues.
F. Reflection/Meditation—7:10-7:30 p.m. We will end with a time of reflection of the night and learning different techniques to meditate and pray.
G. Service Project – will be participating in at least one service project a year. It is our desire that youth will gain a desire to help others and see they are serving as the hands of Christ.
H. Lock-in/Retreat – will be discussed with the youth, so they may participate in the planning of these events.
I. Special Nights—One a month we will be offering a special event for the night. It may be tye-dying, bowling, sledding, Bunko, service project, or other activities.
